SETTINGS AND STATISTICS
UI Settings
- One-Tap Moves: This feature enables you to toggle between two modes of moving the game pieces on the board.
When it is on, you move a board piece simply by tapping the piece you want to move and it will move the value of the left most unused die. To switch the order of the dice, simply tap the dice.
When it is off, you tap the piece you want to move and then tap the position where you want it to move to. Thus, this method requires two taps per move.
- Show Possible Moves: When One-Tap Moves is OFF, this will show you where you can move the piece you selected by tapping on it. This is useful as you are learning the game.
- Auto Confirm Tap: When performing a move you would not need to confirm the end of your turn. You still have to tap to roll at the end of your opponent's turn.
- Dice Roll Animation: During a roll of the dice, animates the dice shaking.
- Animation Speed: You can choose how fast the pieces move on the board by setting the slider value between slow and fast.
- Display Pip: This feature turns on/off the display of the players' Pip values for the current board. Pip stands for "Points In Play". It is calculated by taking the value of the position, multiplied by the number of pieces on that position, and adding together all the player's positions. The lower the Pip value, the closer you are to finishing the game. The player with the lower Pip value is the one most often ahead in the game at that moment in time.
- Swap Home Position: This feature changes the home position from the left side of the board to the right side.
- Swap Piece Color: This feature changes the color of the player to black.
- Display Undo and Replay Buttons: This feature shows or hides the Undo and Replay buttons to either make the board less cluttered or to make the buttons more accessible. If you hide the buttons you can still use them from the Game Menu.
- Board Style: You can choose a board style based on your preference.
Sound Settings
- Dice Roll: Plays dice sound when rolling the dice. Also plays a sound when your opponent completes their turn.
- Received Chat Messages: Plays sound notification when you receive a chat message during a Local Network or Game Center game.
- Auto-Match Notification: Plays sound notification when Auto-Match finds an opponent for a match.
Game Settings
- A.I. Level: There are three A.I. levels: "Beginner", which is intended for users just starting out; "Intermediate", which uses a Pip based algorithm; and "Expert", which uses a neural network that has been trained using over 300,000 games.
- Auto-Play Forced Moves: When a player has only one possible move to make, the game will automatically make the move.
- Auto-Bear Off: When a player is bearing off, the computer can peform the moves automatically.
- Display Match Options Dialog: When starting an A.I. or Pass the Device game, you will be prompted to select the number of games in the match in the form of first to N points. You also have the option of using the doubling cube during the match.
- Default Doubling Allowed: If Display Match Options Dialog is OFF, this is the doubling setting used during the matches.
- Default Match Length: If Display Match Options Dialog is OFF, this setting is used for the number of points in the match (first to N).
- Dice Rolling Algorithm: Random uses two different random number generators and is based on the timing of the human player taps. Balanced uses a random number generator but smooths out the distribution of the rolls to prevent frequent duplication of rolls. Manual allows the user to enter the dice rolls - only valid for AI and Pass the Device games.
- Save Computer Match: Turning on this setting will save the state of the computer match when exiting the app and then resumes it when the app is started again, even if the app is removed from memory. It will also save the state of the computer match if you are starting a Game Center match and then resume it when the Game Center match is finished.
